Big Ben

We said goodbye to our precious BenBen on Friday... 8/27/2010.

Ben had a major seizure and was just unable to recover from it.
He is buried in the backyard next to our Boxer, Soxebaby.
He will be missed!

Lap quilt

I found this hand dyed fabric on-line at Fat Quarter Shop & I fell in love with it. I knew immediately I wanted to make a lap quilt for John to lay on the couch.

This is my first stipple quilt...it took me 3 hours to stipple it. It was a lot of work but well worth the overall look of the quilt.

It has now become one of my favorites!

Sports Bunko

Augusts Bunko theme was "Sports."

Beth always has the best ideas....she put on make-up to make her look really tan!

It was Naomi's bunko month...but since her house is being renovated we had it at my house.

I borrowed this cheer-leading outfit from my neighbor. The pom poms were Meg's when she cheered in jr. high.

Jennifer wore her sons basketball uniform!

It was another fun girls night! I didn't win, again!

Little Princess

I finished the "Little Princes" quilt for my little princess, Scarlett.

Here is the front of the quilt. I love the colors & patterns of the fabric.

For the back & binding I decided to use a black & white polka dot.

All rolled up & ready to be loved by the little princess.

Here she is at 2 weeks old. She looks just like her momma, but I can see her daddy in her too. She is beautiful.

Grandma quilts have love in every stitch.

The Mad Quilter

Last week I was in the mood to thrift. So John & I headed towards town. We never made it to town. I saw an estate sale sign so we went there. I was thrilled when I saw this furniture & knew it would look perfect in my sewing room.

It's was made in 1976 by Ethan Allen. So you know it's high quality furniture. I LOVE the daffodil yellow color....it's so retro.

Above is actually 3 different pieces. I put them along the wall so I would have more space to move around the room and easier access to my supplies when sewing.

View from the other side.

My cutting station is just to the left of my machine now. So much easier than behind me.

I have plenty of drawer space to hold my fabrics now. I love that I can display my Holly Hobbie dolls (from my childhood) on a shelf instead of in a basket on the floor.

It can still be used as a guest room if needed. But they would hate it when I wake them up at 6 am so I can sew.

I am lovin' my new sewing room. It's so 70's, cozy & inspiring me to get in there and create beautiful things.

John has nicknamed me "The Mad Quilter." So I put the saying on my cork board.

Heat Wave

We are under an excessive heat warning! NOT looking forward to this week; I'll be staying indoors for sure!

Thankfully, my outdoor cats are smart and have been staying in the garage where it is cool. We keep a box fan in there for them and it stays about 85°. It makes me sad when I see animals in heat like this without any shade or some kind of shelter.
Speaking of outside cats....anybody out there want one? They are sweet cats! I don't have the heart to take them to the pound. I wonder sometimes what my neighbors think of us! They probably think we are a crazy family....well, we are, but that's another post. At least we live in the country so our houses aren't that close together.

Back to the heat wave, this week is going to suck...big time! I'm SO ready for Autumn!
